Free and open source, the user interface under LGPL-3.0 and the model under GPL-3.0. Installed per user on every platform, so no administrator rights are needed. No account, no cloud: it asks GitHub whether a newer release exists, then asks GitHub for a repository's releases only when you import them. Nothing about you goes with either.
Latest releaseWindows 10 or 11, 64-bit
Download for WindowsRun the setup program. It installs for the current user under your local application data, offers Desktop and Start Menu shortcuts and registers itself so it uninstalls the ordinary way. Removing it takes your settings with it, so installing again starts fresh; your documents are never touched.
macOS on Apple Silicon
Download for macOSOpen the disk image and drag PlainSight into Applications.
Any flatpak desktop, 64-bit
Download for LinuxInstall with flatpak install --user plainsight.flatpak. It runs sandboxed. It is granted your home folder read only, so it can read the documents you point it at and cannot change them; it may write only in its own ~/.plainsight folder, where its settings and imported release notes live. It also has network access for the update check and the release notes import; nothing else.

The user interface is under LGPL-3.0. The model, along with the setup program and the build scripts, is under GPL-3.0. Both texts ship with the application and both are reachable from the buttons in its bottom tray. A commercial licence for my own code is also available, separately from the open-source licences: see commercial licensing.
